Hike San Diego – Torrey Pines

One of the places in San Diego that we always take family and friends when they come to visit us is the Torrey Pines State Reserve. It is a beautiful, 2,000 acre preserve with 8 miles of walking trails right along the coast, where you can see how the California coast-line looked before much development took place. This hike is great for people of all fitness levels, as it is more of a “nature walk” than a strenuous hike, but amazing scenery nonetheless.

What I really like about Torrey Pines is that you end at the beach. You start out climbing up a hill and go through a few miles of trails, and then voila!

You have to be careful there because big rocks and pieces of the cliff always fall (thus the caution sign). From there, you walk back along the beach and it takes you straight to the parking lot. Or you could set up and turn it into a beach day :)
